Tool Optimisation

IT Organisations have a multitude of Enterprise Service Management (ESM) tools which are essential for effective event monitoring, asset discovery, service management processes and reporting. In fact most IT Organisations have several tools performing similar activities and most of these tools are under-utilised. This is expensive from both a licensing and a maintenance perspective, and through having multiple sources of data this can lead to incorrect decision making and inefficient data processing.

iCore can help IT you optimise your tools strategy.

The iCore ‘ESM Tools Optimisation Review’ is an assessment of incumbent tools within a service environment which does not look at procuring new tools, but focuses on getting the best out of existing tools by identifying duplication and un-used tool functions to rationalize/streamline service tools thus reducing service provision and support costs.

This assessment involves a review of all enterprise systems management software in use, the levels of usage, license and support costs and agreements, and the usage and ownership of the data held within the tools.

The Tools Optimisation Review is broken down in to several stages which include the following:

  • Scoping – identify the review criteria and agree deliverables
  • Discovery – gather key data about the tools in use covering both the commercial aspects and the service aspects
  • Results/Analysis – review and analyse the information gathered to identify areas for optimisation
  • Optimisation Report – produce a report showing the review findings and recommendations for optimisation of the tools
  • Next Steps – a road map for implementation of the recommendation
